JGB Mulch Applicator

For optimum laying of plastic film, soil should be free flowing with adequate moisture. Soil preparation by cultivating and/or rototilling prior to installation creates a smooth lump free surface which helps to ensure a tight union between the plastic and the soil for more efficient heat transfer. Plastic can be laid to make either a flat or raised bed.

Mulch applicators are used to lay plastic mulch on the bed and secure it with soil. They generally consist of a plastic roll holder, two furrow openers, and two land wheels followed by two furrow closers mounted on a tool bar. The furrow openers create a trench on either side of the mulch.

The two land wheels follow the furrow openers and hold the plastic in the furrow. The two furrow closers refill the trench, firmly anchoring the plastic with soil.

JGB Mulch Lifter

A plastic mulch lifter is used to remove mulch from the field. The side coulters align with the edge of the buried mulch and slice the weeds and other trash that hold the mulch in the soil. Properly adjusted, with a short top link on the three-point hitch, the plow points lift the mulch from the soil and shake the soil and weeds off of it.

The lifter leaves the mulch lying loosely on top of the planting bed, making it easier to pick up for disposal.
